Mango and Honey: Two Sweet Traditions

Mango purée and honey add depth to Champion Well Pineapple and Apple. Here is a closer look at two ingredients with long Nigerian roots.

Some ingredients do quiet work. You may not name them when you take a sip, but you would miss them if they were gone. In Champion Well Pineapple and Champion Well Apple, mango purée and honey are two of those ingredients.

Mango

When mango season arrives in Nigeria, you can smell it in the markets. Ripe mango flesh is naturally rich in colour because it contains beta-carotene, which the body can convert to vitamin A. It adds body and warmth to a fruit drink.

Honey

Honey has been gathered and enjoyed for thousands of years. It brings a soft, floral sweetness that rounds out sharper fruit. Honey is still a sugar, so it is best enjoyed in moderation, and it should not be given to babies under one year old.

Why flavour needs layers

A single fruit can taste flat. Add a little mango and honey, and the flavour opens up. That is the craft behind our recipes: taste first, always.
