The Benefits of Moringa: What the Evidence Really Says

Moringa has a big reputation. Here is an honest look at what is known about its nutrients, and where science still has more to learn.

Search for moringa and you will find big promises. We make a moringa drink, so we would love every one of them to be true. But you deserve an honest answer, so here is what the evidence supports today.

What is well established

Moringa leaves are a nutritious food. Published analyses report vitamins, minerals such as calcium, potassium and iron, and amino acids in the leaves, especially when dried. That is a real benefit: it is a plant food with plenty to offer as part of a varied diet.

What is still being studied

Many of the exciting results come from laboratory and animal studies. A 2018 scientific review found that human clinical trials were still scarce, so the level of evidence for specific health effects remains low. Newer research on maternal and child nutrition is encouraging, and researchers continue to call for larger, longer studies.

Why the numbers can differ

Nutrient levels change with growing conditions, the part of the plant and how it is processed. How much of a nutrient your body can use also depends on the rest of your diet. That is why a single figure rarely tells the whole story.

How to read moringa claims

  • Be careful with anything promising to cure or treat a disease.
  • Look for what a product actually contains, on its label.
  • Think of moringa as part of a balanced diet, not a replacement for one.

Where we stand

We make no medical claims. We use moringa because it is a respected Nigerian plant with real nutritional value, and we add vitamins and zinc so that you can read exactly what is in each bottle on its label.
